about

Talking in Your Sleep
This song has captivated all 3 of us from the beginning. The original version is pretty dark and upbeat and has a really snappy pop sensibility about it that kind of hides the darkness of it. We like the dark.

The King is Half Undressed
Jellyfish is a band most have not heard of but for those who have, there's a feeling of being a part of a secret sect. Like Chavez or Dirty Three fans. Something so good and perfect it's maddening to consider that so few people seem to remember them. This is our tribute to one of the best bands ever.

Teenage Dream
We love Katy Perry. And we love this song. So if it sounds like we're trying to take the piss out of it and do a kitschy version- we're not. We just really really love this song. You should too.

Boy With A Coin
It's difficult to explain how beautiful and breathtaking the original versions of this is, and how we wanted to cover it but not fuck it up. We tried to capture some of what we love about this song and added a little dash of pepper to the grog.

Tattooed Love Boys
Songs about being raped by a biker gang don't seem like an immediate choice for a cover unless it's this song. So mean, so angular, so immediate and unflinching. A harrowing account of Chrissie Hynde's own experience, told furiously with a drop-beat groove at break-neck speed.

Good To Be King
We always thought this was a hit but apparently not many people remember this one. TP is a master of his craft and this is no exception to the rule. Heartbreaking(!) world-weariness.

Nobody Does it Better
This song makes something primal stir in the loins. Carly's voice, the melody, the chord progression are all pure evil. It's so powerful and elemental, and this is our tribute. It's a song about a tribute of a celebration of a perfect song...

about

The Life and Times Chicago, Illinois

he Life and Times has lived a thousand lives since their first record more than 12 years ago, after the dissolution of Allen Epley’s former band, little guy cult fave’s Shiner. This 5th full-length album is a sun and drug-dappled beauty, infused with a thick sonic kaleidoscope of tones. More immediate and to the point than previous releases, power and beauty hold the cards ultimately. ... more
